Preparing for Surgery

  • Do not EAT or DRINK anything after midnight the night before your surgery.  This includes water, hard candy, gum, chewing tobacco, ice, or prescription medications (unless ordered by your doctor).
  • Bathe or shower the night before and the morning of your surgery to minimize chances of infection.  Teeth may be brushed, but don't swallow any water.
  • Do not smoke after midnight of the night before your surgery.
  • Your doctor may order laboratory tests in preparation for you surgery.  All tests must be completed at least two days prior to your surgery day.  Your surgery may be delayed without these required tests.
  • If the patient is a child, a parent must remain at the surgery location before, during and after the surgery.  The parent must sign release forms for children under 18.
  • Guardians of children under 18 must provide written proof of guardianship the day of the surgery.

Transportation

  • ImageYou will not be allowed to drive a vehicle for 24 hours after your surgery.  Please arrange for a responsible person to be with you after the surgery to drive you home.

The Day of Your Surgery

  • Bring your insurance card and driver's license with you.
  • Arrange for care of your children for 24 hours, as you could feel drowsy for that time.
  • Do not wear contact lenses or makeup.
  • Bring a complete list of any medications you are taking with dosages.  This includes both prescription, over-the-counter, vitamins and herbal.

Surgery Centre at Craig Ranch

  • You will receive a packet from our office when you surgery is scheduled.  This packet includes important information that you should review in advance.  Bring it with you to the Surgery Center.
  • If you misplace any forms, you can find them online at www.craigranchsurgery.com.  Click on Patient Information.
  • The Surgery Center will call you prior to your surgery date to complete a questionnaire and provide you with instructions.

McKinney Surgery Center

  • You will receive a packet from our office when you surgery is scheduled.  This packet includes important information that you should review in advance.  Bring it with you to the Surgery Center.
  • If you prefer, you can pre-register online at www.mckinneysurgerycenter.com .  Click on Clinical History under the Resources tab.
  • The Surgery Center will call you prior to your surgery date to complete a questionnaire and provide you with instructions.

The surgery center is located at the Medical Center of McKinney on US 5, just northeast of the junction of Hwy 121 and US 75.
